Astrid Hage was trained as fashion designer, textile analyst and museologist. She works as a collection manager at The MuseumFabriek in Enschede where she is specialized in the analysis, preservation and presentation of textiles and costumes. www.demuseumfabriek.nl

As guest lecturer she teaches ‘Bio-design and Technology in Textiles’ at the Saxion Hogeschool in Enschede.

From 2008 till 2018 she was coordinator symposia of the Dutch textile committee. www.textielcommissie.nl

Her fascination for nature and technologies she applies to textiles by research and experiments with different materials and (bio-)techniques; like growing bacterial cellulose, dyeing with bacterial pigments and making fabrics from alternative fibres like catwool, spidersilk or wild silkworms.

Travelling the world she seeks and collects rare and different textile fibres and fabrics.

She likes to share her passion and knowledge by curating exhibitions and giving lectures.
